Once Upon A Time:
Paiwan 排灣
2020
'Once Upon A Time' is an exhibition proposal for the ethnicity museum to introduce Paiwan (排灣) culture. Paiwan is one of the sixteen officially listed indigenous people in Taiwan, known for their exquisite costumes, especially the decorations and embroidery.
Three exhibits - headwear, embroidery, video, represent individual achievement, social structure, and praise to mother nature, respectively. To unpack the hidden messages, the audiences need to play, to interact with the exhibits. The more you explore, the more you learn.
